Reflection

The strongest part of my finished art piece is the way I use the filter to add a new look to it. The reason why is because the filter adds a new depth to image. The saturation and hue adds to the patterns which was created. Giving a unique effect. For two of the design it gives off a flowery vibe. Glowing light pink that draws the people in. Plus it stands out strongly. A part of my art piece that can be improved on is the evenness of the piece. It can be improved if I use the polygon lasso correctly. As well as using the shift button to make it much straighter.
Tools I use to create my work is the image adjustment, polygon lasso, filter, move tool, saturation/hue and zoom tool. I use different types of filter. How I use the materials is with filter I would change the color to my choice. Once I had my colors I would add saturation/hue to the colors. Then I would use vibrancy add more depth to the piece. Using the filter again to my advantage I would make the coloring little brighter. The move tool I would make everything symmetrical. Lastly, I would zoom in on any area that had a little white.
What was easy about this activity was the adding the filter. As well as coming up with an idea. What I felt was difficult was the understanding what tool does what. At first I didn’t know how to make the polygon lasso straight. How I demonstrated each of the objective of is that I did use my time wisely. My creativity is original and stands out. As well as understanding the elements and principles of design. I believe I wouldn’t do it differently. I would rate myself a 10 because I was just done on time. I put a lot effort into the piece.

  1. The Kaleidoscope Ashley designed was based off her original photograph of a cat. All three of her compositions contain proper symmetry and are very unique. If I were to split any of her compositions in half vertically or horizontally, both sides would be symmetrical. Ashley’s first composition contains a lot of bright colors whereas in her two other compositions she utilizes darker and more neutral colors. One strong aspect of her first composition is stain glass affect her image has. The figures like the triangle ears of the cat can still be seen and this is very eye-catching, however one weak point of this composition is that it seems to have a bull’s eye effect. The whole composition is drawn into the center. In the second composition the image almost looks like a rug. The stronger part of this piece is the perceived texture. While looking at this image it almost appears fuzzy like the cat in her original photo. A weaker point in my opinion would be the dark shadow she chose to use. In my opinion I would’ve liked to see this section be just as bright as the rest of the composition. Lastly, the third composition shows some small gaps in between the photos, but the dark green and light pink Ashley decided to use both complement each other very well. In my opinion if I were to rank the strongest to weakest of her pieces I would say her first one is her strongest, then her second piece, and lastly her third piece. I think in her third piece she can improve the small gaps by just enlarging the section till there is no visible white. Overall, Ashley created three very strong compositions.

  2. The visual kaleidoscope is presented by Ashley Toussaint. When I look at the visuals all that I can say is that it’s very interesting. The three images are different in not just the colors, but also in the shapes, and the way how she had set up the copies in certain places. In the first picture she had the image copied and shrunk to make it look like it was in fact repeating itself. Then after the first two copied she had the color changed which just made the colors just bounce of the image when they come together. For the second picture in the center the brighter images just glow compared to the darker images around the edges and near the center. Also the final third picture has a certain color balance to it, I wouldn’t have thought to bring green and pink together in the same picture.
The strongest picture of the 3 would have to be the second picture because of its way that the colors aren’t just able to blend together, also you aren’t able to see that the pictures are just put together, it actually looks like it was originally one picture. And the stuff that the picture could use some improvement on is that it could use more color in it around the edges, and near the center.
